Otoy® is proud to announce the availability of a new version of OctaneRender™ for Maya®
The world's fastest and most feature-rich unbiased render engine that integrates completely into Autodesk® Maya®.

Maya® Version Requirements

This release will work with Maya® Versions 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2013.5 / 32-bit & 64-bit on MS Windows operating systems.

Notes regarding features/functionality

OctaneRender™ for Maya® implements almost full functionality of OctaneRender™ standalone inside Maya®. Materials from the Live DB are currently not available.

COMPATIBILITY AND OCTANERENDER STANDALONE REQUIREMENT

To run OctaneRender™ for Maya®, you need to also have an activated OctaneRender™ Standalone copy activated on the machine you wish to install the plugin onto.
You cannot purchase and use only the Maya plugin and use it without also owning an activated copy of OctaneRender™ Standalone on your machine
.

HOW TO PURCHASE LICENSES

Go to our online shop here: http://render.otoy.com/shop/

If you do not own an OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition License yet:
You can purchase both the OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition and the OctaneRender™ for Maya® Edition as a reduced price bundle, purchase the bundle priced at 279€

If you already own one or more OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition licenses you want to pair the plugin with:
Purchase an "OctaneRender™ for Maya® Beta License" priced at 99€

You can also purchase a 3, 5 or 10 pack of OctaneRender™ for Maya® licenses,
just like OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition packs.

OCTANELIVE

Just like OctaneRender™ Standalone, the Maya® plugin product also needs an additional OctaneLive license and be activated on a machine.
This has to be done in the plugin interface panel in Maya, and is covered in the included PDF manual.
It can only be done after an OctaneRender™ Standalone license is already activated on the machine in question.

This is the quick-fix release.

CHANGES AND FIXES SINCE LAST RELEASE:

  • Batch render issue workaround.

Yes, search the forum there are plenty of posts detailing these. The limits are different if you have a 5 series GPU (Fermi) or a 6 series (kepler).
There is also feedback on how many of each type of map you have in your scene in the render stats at the bottom of the render view within the Maya plugin.

TBFX, thanks a lot.

Hi,JimStar,

I foud a prioblem,When I set animation mode to "camera only",or "Movable proxies", batchrender can not load the animation of Material evrey frame.

Set the animation mode to "full" ,the plugin can render the animation of Material. But "full" bacthrender load all mesh of the scence evrey frame.It is slowly.

So when anmiantion mode set to "camera only"or "Movable proxies" ,it is usefull if plugin can load the animation of Material evrey frame.Like render a animation of water!

I noticed by accident, that sometimes Month and Day attrs take a value of float numbers (in IPR mode). It doesn't affect the picture, though.
Here is an extraction from Maya's history:
Code: Select all
setAttr "octaneSunSky.Day" 29;
setAttr "octaneSunSky.Day" 28;
setAttr "octaneSunSky.Month" 9;
setAttr "octaneSunSky.Day" 29.421053;
setAttr "octaneSunSky.Day" 28;
setAttr "octaneSunSky.Month" 8;
setAttr "octaneSunSky.Month" 9;
setAttr "octaneSunSky.Day" 24;
setAttr "octaneSunSky.Hour" 13.136842;
setAttr "octaneSunSky.Day" 20;
setAttr "octaneSunSky.Day" 17;
setAttr "octaneSunSky.Hour" 14.4;
setAttr "octaneSunSky.Hour" 15.410526;
setAttr "octaneSunSky.Month" 7.6;
setAttr "octaneSunSky.Day" 22;
setAttr "octaneSunSky.Day" 19;
setAttr "octaneSunSky.Month" 8;
setAttr "octaneSunSky.Day" 13;
setAttr "octaneSunSky.Day" 20;
setAttr "octaneSunSky.Month" 5;
setAttr "octaneSunSky.Day" 16;
setAttr "octaneSunSky.Day" 17;
setAttr "octaneSunSky.Day" 19;
setAttr "octaneSunSky.Day" 13;
setAttr "octaneSunSky.Hour" 12;
setAttr "octaneSunSky.Day" 14.894737;

I have a strange issue since upgrading from OctaneRender for Maya v1.13 beta to this version. In the previous versions, when I render an image, I get frequent updates in the render view showing me the progress of the render. In 1.16b, I get a single update at the beginning of the render, and then only when the render is complete do I get another screen refresh showing me the final image. This is all using the Render View window to render a single frame from within Maya.

It's funny.:lol:
But it is how Maya's "attrControlGrp" UI element works - it is inside Maya, there is nothing to do from the plugin's side to change this weird thing... Plugin just uses this Maya's API command to show the Node's integer attribute in the attribute editor UI...
Anyway, I've just double-checked it - the integer value itself is set correctly in this case (if you will try to "getAttr" after this strange float setting - you will see that the integer value of the attribute is correct)...
