Maya Batch Issues

I am sorry if this has been covered... When I render out in Maya Batch I get four frames (out of 250) then batch stops.
I get no script errors... any ideas

Follow up to this question...

I have a post regarding cards dropping out in the stand-alone when rendering. When this happens in the stand-alone it occurs usually after 4-5 minutes of rendering I will get a driver issue then one of the cards will just cut out. Another 7 minutes in another one will go etc. Most often 4 of the 6 will stay... sometimes I can even get down to one card.

When I do the maya batch it will kick out after 5-10 minutes regularly sometimes doing 3 frames sometimes 4-5.

Could that be related... i.e. if a card fails does teh batch render fail also?

Thanks

Peter

Animation :
out of 6 cards, 5*680 and 1 580gtx - it is always my 580 that fails in one of my computers - oddly enough some scenes it renders fine and in some others the 580 fails after a few frames - I can't quite figure out what the difference between the scenes is that causes it - but it only happened for 2 scenes out of many others.

on my other machine with 3*680's I ALWAYS have it render for about 40 frames before the render fails and I restart the bat file from where it left off. If I have a scene that takes a long time to render each frame the machine go for about 2.5 days then fails, if its a quick to render it will fail after 1.5 days - my guess is some kind of memory leak or some kind of build up.

my room is Air conditioned, all fans working and monitored.

Heat can often make cards fail - and my 580 seems quite susceptible to this imo.

Thanks for the info.
I just today lowered the clock speed and the voltage on the cards and my temps are all under 63 which I think is more than acceptable.

So far I have 26 frames done and no crash out and I am going to let it run all night. I hope you are right and it lasts overnight before dumping memory.

I do not mind restarting a bat occassionally but every 6 frames was nuts : > )

I'll let you know how it goes.

Peter

Here is a question that you might know a trick for.

All my cards are 580s and though one of the cards usually always goes off on high res renders (and one has died while I write this... though the batch render is still going : > )

It is really hard to tell which one it is. Is there a way that you know of to know which PCI SLOT it is? There is so much heat and air coming out of a system with 7 total cards in it that trying to "feel" which one it is is pretty hard to do. I do not think the card number in GPU monitoring systems corresponds to slots and I do not think it corresponds to Octane's Card selection.

On top of that I am not sure if the numbering system is the same each time. i.e. is GPU one in EVGA Precision Monitoring software the same every time (regardless of which slot it really is) ?

One could off all the cards but one and test it each time... but it might be that it only turns off when they are ALL on.

Any ideas on that one?

Thanks

I don't know if it changes anything, but when I launch a long gpu render I take off the side of my computer case.
I remember in another thread someone that was trying to find which gpu slot was failing but can't remember if he found a way to find out : S

I will think about adding some setting to Octane settings which will set the timeout after resetting the previous frame and starting the next... I'm not sure if this is exactly the reason, but I think that it may be one of the reasons - if e.g. the engine does not have the time to reset the just rendered frame on the GPU...
Strange thing is that this issue appears randomly - it is the sign that it is rather not the plugin issue and it hides somewhere on deeper level...

And please, answer to my question HERE.;)

Thanks Jimstat
I will send you the verbose out put... like you said it is random... I reduced speed and power to clocks and no fails so far so I am letting it go overnight... if I get a crash i will send you the log when I get in mate
