"Update Render Geometry" vs. "Rebuild Scene"

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the real difference between the two? I tried searching both the online manuals and forums. The manual section lacks this information and the forum search function doesn't work as I anticipate.

I have a high geometry grouped object that when I use the Viewport rendering function, I am pausing then rotating the group to obtain different views. The viewport doesn't update to reflect the turned group after pausing and unpausing.
I'll often either have to hit the "Update Render Geometry" button or "Rebuild Scene" but they both seem to do the same thing.
The better solution would be for the rendering engine to recognize that something has been turned/moved even if something is paused/unpaused.

To see changes of position/rotation/scale you need to select your objects, then go to OctaneProperties and click on checkbox called "Movable proxy"

Thanks. That's one workaround. But does "Movable Proxies" assume that there will be no further changes to the actual geometry and/or texturing?

Also, this still doesn't answer my original questions.

Hi lunarstudio,
Update Render Geometry reloads the scene geometry onto the GPU. This button must be used if scene elements have been added or changed while the OctaneRender Viewport is open. Otherwise, scene geometry is reloaded onto the GPU whenever the OctaneRender Viewport is closed and re-opened.
Rebuild Scene, rebuilds al the scene elements including lighting and materials.
As SergKlyosov said, Octane proxy allows real-time updates in the OctaneRender Viewport for Octane proxies that are animated in a scene, it's not a work around. Texturing it is automatically updated in OctaneRender Viewport.
