Everyone making 3d arch models knows that the client wants to see many changes and if possible in real time... So, Revit is really fast but only for 3d shaded views.... With Octane and GPU Rendering, daylight exteriors would be a matter of minutes.
On the other hand, the lack of import/export capabilities in Revit and the fact that you have only RPC objects for your renderings makes it really hard to have a nice non-mental ray rendering without the use of a second app like MAX...
