How does Octane actually render? Does it use AI to generate multiple, interpolated LOD maps and then ray trace render at the appropriate LOD?

Hi, a LOD (level of detail) is usually handled by the 3D DCC (i.e Maya, Cinema 4D, etc). The renderer has internal features and optimizations to handle large geometry as long as it fits the VRAM of the GPU(s) used for rendering.

Octane is a native spectral path-tracing GPU based renderer featuring AI features that are briefly explained here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=66014.

It is strongly recommended to consult the official documentation page as it will contain many information of Octane's features, options, and more: https://docs.otoy.com/StandaloneH_STA/S ... Manual.htm
