water,glass material

Hi

after few hours of researching of water material i got nothing

my water material looks f***** up (check pict,also glass material for windows,doors etc. have same effect)

can someone please explain settings for water material in octane

btw i have v1.0 beta 2.2 (demo)

Edit: one more test glass
whatever i do object behind glass is black or very dark

The sun goes not through the glas.
Use a HDR-Background and Pathtracing.
The watersurface should also be closed, not only a plane.

yep with pathtracing looks much better, thanks ;)

but how much is slower rendering process when i change from directlight to pathtacing???

A good question, maybe factor 2-3, against from the number of maxdepth...

i tryed few scene what i do before in octane and there is amazing results
but render time is much much slower :(

Maybe you can reduce the maxdepth to 3 or 4...

with maxdepht 8 is about 40 mins
interier and 2 mil poly

i will try this 3-4 ;) thanks

Ok 2mio polys aren´t a few.
Maybe you can cleanup your scene, that would speedup it too...
