.max to .obj?

Hi

I have purchased the HQ plants pack 1 from www.3dmentor.ru.

Does anyone know if it's possible to convert them to .obj (for use as proxies) or any other format to use them in sketchup?

I have tried to export from 3ds max as obj. It seems that the geometri gets exported, but the materials won't.

Thanks :-)

Hi Jorgensen,

3ds max must have an option to export scenes as .obj. Check under "File / Export / and select .obj".
Other way is to use OctaneRender for 3ds max to export scene as .ocs/.orbx. When scene is exported as .ocs a corresponding .obj file and material textures are created. Try that. Or use .obj export plugins for 3ds max.

Hope that helps

Hi fuzzybro

I have tried the file export / .obj, but it seems like the textures are not exported.

How do I use the OctaneRender plugin to export? I have searched the online manual for .obj and export, but not found any help.

Thanks

ps. I think it's version 1.5 i use in 3ds max.

There should be an option to export the textures. Look at all of the obj export settings. I've done it before

hi kavorka

when I select .obj export, I can select options for materials, but no maps is created :-/

I'm sure I'm doing something (noob) wrong :-/

There might be a Preset I should use?

Thanks

when you bring them into Sketchup, they may not automatically grab the textures, but did you check the folder to make sure nothing was exported?

yes, in the first screenshot shows the folder. There is only two files. The .mlt looks like this:
