5.0 and 5.1 Updating assets. Workflow check or known issues?

I've been looking for a sanity check for some updates to assets in a simple scene and not finding any direct mention of the issues I've got-
In short, updating an fbx has suddenly been giving horrible results in Octane in UE (5.0.3 and 5.1.1) The scene was assembled in 5.0.3 and I've tried updating there and in 5.1.1. I haven't visited this since early December, but have some improved assets to drop in.
Can not find a workaround through mesh updates, material rebuilds, texture re-imports etc. I don't *think* there's anything that I'm missing, but...

getting a mix of what appears to be inverted maps, skewed or rotated UVs, and any materials that do come through properly render darker (overall scene lighting quality seems fine, just material response to it is different); just an overall ugly situation as the timing is well, any timing for this sort of thing is never good.

Is there a known set of issues and workflow steps to check, that I can look to for this? Thanks...
