Unity Sample Scene Assets - A Note Regarding Commercial Use

Hello everyone,

Just a note to Unity users, in regards to the commercial use of the Assets featured in our OctaneRender® for Unity Sample Scenes.


You are permitted to use assets found on OTOY’s Unity Asset Store page for commercial use, with the exception of the assets based on the OctaneRender and Unity logos. You may not use any asset from the OctaneRender® for Unity Installer Scene (as it contains only brand logos).

To remove the OctaneRender spaceship asset and Unity floor panel from the Docking Bay sample project:

  • 1. Start Unity
  • 2. Load Octane
  • 3. Select the PBR Render Target in the Hierarchy and press the Render button in the Inspector to compile the scene and create a render (you always have to do this the first time you load a Unity project that uses Octane materials)
  • 4. To remove the OctaneRender spaceship:
    • a. In the Hierarchy view select UFO_Xform and delete it (delete key).
    • b. In the assets/DockingBay folder in the Project tab select and delete UFO_model, UFO_spoke, UFO_spoke_prefab, and UFO_tubes and delete them.
  • 5. To remove the Unity logo:
    • a. In the Assets/DockingBay/Materials folder select the bay_floor_mat.
    • b. In the Inspector press the View Source button for bay_floor_mat, this opens the node inspector
    • c. In the Node Inspector select the UnityMask.jpg node and delete it. Close the Nodegraph Editor
    • d. In the Projects/Assets/DockingBay/Textures folder find the UnityMask.jpg texture and delete it.

To Remove the Unity Flagship and the OctaneRender Spaceship from the Orbital sample project:

  • 1. Start Unity
  • 2. Load Octane
  • 3. Select the PBR Render Target in the Hierarchy and press the Render button in the Inspector to compile the scene and create a render (you always have to do this the first time you load a Unity project that uses Octane materials)-
  • 4. In the hierarchy window expand shot 1, shot 2, shot 3, and shot 4 folders.
  • 5. Select the Unity Station folder in each of the shot folders and delete
  • 6. Select the UFO_01 folder in the Shot 2 folder and delete it
  • 7. In the Project tab select the Assets/Flagship folder
  • 8. Select and delete the UFO_01 objects and the Unity_FLAGSHIP and UnityStation_001 objects.


Please note, you are not permitted to resell these assets directly on any marketplace. Please provide attribution as an “OctaneRender® for Unity asset” where appropriate.
