I keep running into this error when I open a scene: // Error: line 744: Object 'TransmissionDefOctControlHsC' not found. and it leave the transmission channel completely greyed out, with any previously connect transmission nodes missing

I have a fairly simple translucent plastic cap, made of a spec material with a roughness texture, normal map, SSS medium and a color node mapped into transmission. If I recreate the material material with a new spec shader, the error is fixed but I have to do this every single time.

Any clue what this is about?

Does the latest stable 15.14 plugin version have the same problem with the same scene?

Thank you.
I will check it after the holidays, and release a fix if I will be able to reproduce it. Does it happen with any scene having transmission attribute of a specular material connected to a transmission node? Or just with some particular scene? It's just weird that nobody has ever reported it since the very old 14.41 release... I just can't check it right now, 'cause I'm not at work - there are long holidays already. And of course it got reported half an hour after the holidays started..;)
If this happens with some particular scene - it would help if you attach it...

If I have a reproducible scene I'll replace it. It's happened across many many scenes. Have a great holiday!

I think i've noticed that the error occurs when using an RGB node (maybe other nodes too?) connected to transmission. If I just use the color box by the slider to adjust the transmission color, I seem to not get that error.

I'm not sure if that's ACTUALLY the case or it just happens to be on this one material or something--I'm chasing a deadline right now so I don't have time to run specific tests but if you happen to be looking into this issue once you're back, you might quickly check to see if there's an issue there.

One thing I have noticed is that the octane material doesn't recognize that a node is connected even though there is obviously a line connecting a node

As I can see from your screenshot - it only affects the material's UI, the render-result should still recognize the transmission node correctly.

I can't reproduce it on my side - no errors in any of my tests.
But I've just guessed what could be happening in your scene and already did some changes that should likely fix it. The new 2020xb2-17.5 test release is almost ready, so you'll be able to try it soon. Just let me know if it fixes your issue...
