I think one of the biggest annoyances when working in Octane and doing lookdev is that I have to refresh the IPR every time I add a new light. Could it be set to where it automatically recognizes new lights and updates them?
What is it about refreshing the IPR that causes the greatest inconvenience? Is it just having to click the button, or is it the delay introduced by reloading the geometry?
Well, when you have an heavy scene, you have to relaod ALL of the elements into the VRAM. So the whole compilation of the octane scene into the GPU is redone. If your scene is heavy this takes a huge tool on the iteration speed, we're in a world pushing for interactive/realtime, and having to wait like a lot (can be a few minutes depending on the scene) is really frustating.
That and also it's just an extra step that takes you out of your flow. When working in blender for example you can just add a light and can start moving things around. Even if it just adds a second or two I find it interrupts my flow. Not the end of the world but would certainly be a big improvement to how working and doing lookdev in octane feels.
I agree, it would be good to have instant feedback without constant refreshing. (similar to C4d, Modo etc.) This is something I am sure we can address but I cannot give you an exact eta.
