This is a production release of the OctaneRender™ 2022.1 for Houdini™ plugin compiled with the Octane 2022.1.1 core. This 2022.1.1.1 release is available for the latest Houdini production builds on Windows x64, Linux, and macOS arm64.

Houdini production builds supported by this release: 18.5.759, 19.0.720, 19.5.534, 19.5.569, 19.5.605, and 19.5.640 (the latter using the 19.5.605 build).

Downloads

NOTE: This release is structured as one download for each combination of platform, Houdini version and Octane license type. Previous releases had multiple Houdini versions bundled into a single download. Hopefully, the new way is more convenient due to smaller downloads, but please let us know if you prefer the old way.

* PLUGIN FEATURES AND FIXES:
- Added H19.5.605 plugin builds; removed H19.5.493.
- Fixed crashes caused by multi-threaded scene extraction.
- Enabled multi-threaded scene extraction on macOS.
- Fixed spelling of "ambient occlusion" in the render target HDA.
- Fixed an issue with volumes that contain half-resolution grids.

Common Issues and Solutions
- If the plugin doesn't work at all, set HOUDINI_DSO_ERROR = 2 in houdini.env and check for messages in the terminal.
- If you're missing libglut.so.3, install the freeglut package.

While I can get the macOS Houdini 19.5.569 plugin to run. 19.5.605 and 19.5.640 don't seem to work at all on macOS?

They don't even flag up the usual security warnings that appear when running a plugin that has not been notarised by Gatekeeper properly.

The IPR window throws up the following: There is an error in the Octane Qt5 IPR script. - this usually appears when a plugin hasn't been given permission to run, but no permission dialog ever appears.

If you're missing libglut.so.3, install the freeglut package.

No clue what this means? Am I missing libglut.so.3? Like I said, 19.5.569 is working fine.

Update: Figured out I was running the Intel / Rosetta version of 19.5.640 by mistake. I have it working now, phew.

For whatever reason, the Apple Silicon version of Houdini has never run from the Houdini Terminal.app - making it harder to debug.
