Hi,
first of all, please remove the installed c4doctane version and upgrade to latest stable 2022.1.2-R2:
https://render.otoy.com/customerdownloa ... OSX_m1.zip

There were a lot of issues with your materials, here is the corrected version:
scene_b.zip
(1.5 MiB) Downloaded 311 times

Please, always use an ImageTexture node before loading any kind of image into c4doctane:
https://docs.otoy.com/cinema4d/ImageTexture.html
Octane is a Spectral render engine, so every texture must to be converted to the proper color space before been used.
And you have access to several important options like Gamma correction, Border Mode, Transform, and Projection pins, and more.

Please also avoid to use the Mix Material, and prefer to use the Composite Material instead.
https://docs.otoy.com/cinema4d/CompositeMaterial.html
Mix Material has several limitations in C4D, works only with 2x materials, it needs to work in conjunction with 2x other node materials so it is difficult to move it in another scene, it doesn't work in C4D Content Browser, and doesn't work correctly with Solo mode.
Composite Material solves all these limits, and it works correctly with Solo mode too.
If you select a Mix Material in Material Manager, then go to Live View menu Materials/Convert Material, it will be automatically converted into a Composite material
Mix Material is obsolete and available only for retro compatibility.

And in general, you cannot have more than one Displacement node for Mix or Composite materials, otherwise, you need to use Vertex Displacement nodes, connected to a Vertex Displacement mixer.

Finally, please consider that the Rounding Edges effect depends form the hardness of the light.. on top with Sun Light, at the bottom with HDRI lighting:

hi bepeg4d

thanks for the helpful suggestions. so the rounded edges effect basically doesn't work with the way hard shadows are rendered?
I was kind of under the impression that this did work before (I'm mainly doing arch viz with octane).
but maybe I'm mistaken...

also thanks for the tip concerning mix vs. composite material, I wasn't aware of that.

The devs are working on it, and should be ready shortly.

I'll post here a link when ready.

Amazing, thank you.

Will there be a PR14/PR15 C4D2024 for those still on Intel with AMD gpus?

I tried 2022.1.2_R3 on MacBook Pro M1 Max & macOS Ventura & C4D 2024 and hair doesn't seem to be working.

Hi, yes, it is a know issue of new C4D 2024, Hair object is not visible in Live View, but correctly rendered in Picture Viewer:
IMG_9756.jpeg

The issue has been already fixed in 2023.1-Beta3-R3 version, the stable version will be fixed at next update:

Please, use the following version in the meantime:
