The use of "3rd party shader" works great with some tweaking, but the sub-grid detail is not taken into account.

Having the same question/request. The use of Sub-grid detail makes such a difference that I still use C4d renderer for TFD because I never found a way to have similar results with Octane.

Pour ma part avec la v3.00 alpha 6.2 et R16 l'objet d'arrière plan fonctionne parfaitement. Il me semble qu'il fonctionnait déjà avec la v2.24 parce que ça fait un moment que je l'utilise comme ça.

I didnt' watch this tutorial yet, but as I understand it you should actually use a mix texture with:
-Mat A = principal texture
-Mat B = grunge texture
-As the amount "object" use a B&W image texture as a map for your grunge texture. So you can create this image with photoshop or else, and ...
