Re: Bretchts New Blender Render Design

Is this even possible? Because if it was, I would immediately install back my old & lousy Radeon 3650, which was giving me faster viewport navigation in Blender than a few generations better GTX 460

Actually I'm not sure.My tongue was firmly in my cheek with that comment.
I do have an old ...

Re: Beta 2.2 RC1: Blender 2.54 Export Script testing thread

I thought I would mention I'm having the same error in line 1009 (default="2"). I have tried a few different builds, including the new 2.55 beta, both 32-bit and 64-bit. I am running Windows 7 64-bit.

Re: Question about mesh emitter lights

I just tested 2.3 v5 on this scene and it is a huge improvement. Here are the same lights in v5 at 2300 samples.

Re: Question about mesh emitter lights

Thanks for the replies. I had read that v5 post before, but totally forgot about the emitter improvement for nearby objects. Thanks for the info. I will just continue creating the models for the scene and test out the lighting when v5 becomes available.

Re: Question about mesh emitter lights

Here is a cropped image of just the orange lights after 20000 samples, still no where close to the original image without the upper light.

Question about mesh emitter lights

I have started working on this scene by placing simple unfinished objects in it for blocking and testing some lighting for it. The first image shows two lights on a cylinder (using a simple plane for each emitter). The only diffence in the second image is that a large plane above the scene has it's ...

Re: Short film made with Octane

i really think you should redo the BI renders with octane, especially the boat it looks very 90'ish in CG terms...

Radiance

Originally I was planning on using a cartoon shader for a more stylized look, but i didn't have time. I created both of those animations in just a few hours about 4 days ...

Re: Short film made with Octane

it's really cool, keep it safe, keep it in the past ;)

some of the shots were quite CGish like on the deck of the boat, were these done in octane too ?
if so, did you use directlighting ? they look more like rendered with a scanline renderer.

The environments in the future are cool , especially ...

Short film made with Octane

I just submitted my entry for "It's Art" magazine's 3D animation challenge. The video was shot in my living room in front of a green screen and all of the environments were created with Blender and rendered in Octane.

I had to rush to get it done by the deadline so it is really rough and a little ...

Re: lightsources

I have a question/feature request for Radiance on this subject. Will it be possible to have a mesh that emits light, but is completely transparent in the scene? This would be useful for compositing the source of the light in the scene for visual effects animation. For example, composite stock ...
