Installed the new Houdini version 20.0.590 and can confirm that fixed the material builder. So my bad for using an outdated version! All good now.

Hello, I cant get materials working properly? What am I missing?
I can get the basic setup rendering with octane so it feels like I installed it correctly.
Is the Solaris Material Builder supposed to be empty without a shader?

I cannot get ACES working properly with Octane in Solaris. I have made a reference render with Octane that use the traditional sop workflow and I cannot get the same render result in Solaris. Changing the OCIO and Tonemapping settings on the camera in Solaris doesn't affect my scene at all ...

Yep, this is a known limitation. If an OBJ node doesn't have any valid geometry in the first frame, it is not even extracted, so later it can't be updated.
