i have been getting the same problem but not all the time. sometimes when i open a scene that was saved with the hypershade window left open it will hang maya unless if i can close the hypershade before the shader orbs start rendering. also it does seem like when the shader icons start rendering or ...

the UV Texture Editor will not display any images/texturemaps that use the Octane Image Texture

how do i get the correct scale in the plugin ? I have never got the reflection to work when i add any amount of roughness. i thought someone mentioned matching scale is the answer which i don't understand (or care) what that even means. my grid is centimeters if that is relevant.

wow i hope a .fbx import comes along. that would be a colossal enhancement.
being able to export 1 file like fbx would immediately speed up rendering an animation. the maya exporter works great. for me when doing a 3minute/frame rendering about 40seconds is wasted on re-opening octane and importing ...

im consistently able to crash octane and lockup my machine when i make the area light emitters opacity totally transparent/invisible (so they don't show up in the render ). is there a better way to hide the lights ?

i could put that scene in mental ray and turn on switches and easily make it take 10mins.
the part of the demo i think isn't explained is how the scenes are optimized (octane maxdepth setting ?)
also those qaudro cards aren't the choice of gpu's to go toe to toe with 2x 3.33 xeons.

export only camera animation
is there a way to only export the camera animation from maya to octane and reuse an existing octane file ?
i read the Max to Octane plug-in does that so there's not a lot of wasted time waiting for Maya to export a whole new identical obj file.
this would obviously only be useful for a fly-through.
