Thanks for the help paride4331, I had been using an ies opposed to a Sun and wasnt getting anywhere

just need to tighten up the contrast to the edge of the light volumes, drop some of the grain out and I'll be pretty much where I was hoping to be for my little project

Yeah, the new modeling tools look nice, but to be honest I was hoping in something more, like an improved zRemesher, a folder system for the subtools, and a pixel-based painting system... I hope these will come with zBrush 5.
