Re: OctaneRender™ 3.0 for Houdini™ - production build 3.04.0.0

Hi, great release as usual!

Any chance you could expose some more inputs in the SHOP nodes, like the filename field in a Texture Image RGB operator, so I don't have to dive into the network to change a texture?

Cheers!

Re: Totally unscientific 1080 vs 1070 benchmark

Thanks for results. IMO comparing same technology GPUs is rather obvious - cuda cores, core clock and memory matters. If you could post results for older gpu would be useful. OctaneBench still does not support Pascals.

Well the reason I posted it was because I was surprised how little difference ...

Totally unscientific 1080 vs 1070 benchmark

So, since I just had both a 1080 and a 1070 in my machine, I thought I'd try them both on the octane benchmark scene.

I just opened the benchmark scene 2.17 in the 3.02 standalone demo and looked at the Ms/s results

Windows 10, nvidia driver 372.54

All measurements after ca. 1 minute render time ...

Re: Vertical split in brightness at render time

Hm. I just copy and pasted everything into a new houdini scene and it's gone. Very weird. I'll try and reproduce it somehow and if I manage to, I'll send you the file!

Re: Vertical split in brightness at render time

Unfortunately I can't send the actual scene but I'll try to send a similar with the same issue.

I was so far able to narrow it down as to be most pronounced in Path Tracing. You can see the brightness switch between each sample step. It's not noticeable in PMC mode.

Vertical split in brightness at render time

I'm having a nasty issue while rendering a scene. See attached image - there's a vertical split going through the center of the image. No difference whether I use a single or two GPUs. Any ideas what could be causing this? This is obviously making the final render unusable :(

Edit: it's not the ...

Re: OctaneRender™ 3.0 for Houdini™ - daily build 3.02

Okay, as a further update, I just worked out what the problem was :) In case anyone else experiences the .desk file issue. It happens if you do not have a "desktop" folder in your Houdini 15.5/ folder. In that case, Houdini will create the folder under the octane folder. And that crashes things. So ...

Re: OctaneRender™ 3.0 for Houdini™ - daily build 3.02

Just as an update: the current build does not work with 15.5.523 (crashes during start), but it's no biggie since it looks like 523 did not fix that bug I mentioned after all anyway :(

Re: OctaneRender™ 3.0 for Houdini™ - daily build 3.02

Hi Juanjo,

there's a new production build out (15.5.523), could we get a build for that one? I'm asking because apparently if fixes a bug with custom Desktop setups that crash Houdini at start - and at least in my case the octane plugin always stores the last setup as xyz.desk (Technical.desk in my ...

Remote Desktop (RDP) - Octane does not find GPUs

When connecting through RDP to a Win 10 machine, running C4D R17 and Octane 2.25 R3, only the one internal GPU is being recognized, while the four GPUs attached through an Amfeltec rig are not.

If instead I connect to the same machine using Teamviewer, the cards are recognized.

Can anyone confirm ...
