Features that makes renderer unique for me.

Hi,
I look forwared to all the features that are necessary for renderer to be called mature - like instances, motion blur, SSS, indirect light through glass, no bugs and all the basic features, so final release can come. But I would like to know WHETHER and WHEN are other "additional" features ...

Re: Hair/fur/grass shader?

Wow, this is wonderful. Thanks. I hope that there will once be this kind of shader in Octane. As far as I know, no other unbiased render (Maxwell, Indigo, Luxrender, Arion) have hair/fur/grass shader. Many of us have to find workaround via other sw and i/o, ram etc. issues and Octane could have big ...

Re: Exterior Nightscene

Beautiful render!
I really admit the grass too, can you give some hints how to make it, please? The sky is post, or HDR or LDR image?

Re: Hair/fur/grass shader?

Probably I will sometimes anyway use Blender because of e.g. trees, people and cars. I dont think that trees from 3Dwarehouse (Sketchup) would look great in Octane. I have some good free and some bought libraries that I will try to get to Octane. Maybe only via Sketchup import/export (it would be ...

Re: Hair/fur/grass shader?

i don't know about other application but with c4d it's already possible to render hair stuff without any conversion.
obviously there is the polycount limitation but with instances it could be a lot more easy ;)

ciao beppe

Hi bepeg4d,
it is good to know that octane support C4D hair without any ...

Re: Hair/fur/grass shader?

hi mayan,

good news is that there's an upcoming version of octane that is capable of instancing.
bad news is that we don't know when that version is due.

Hi Colin,
I look forward to instancing, I use instances in C4D with VrayforC4D heavily for trees. But back to Sketchup -> Octane. I cannot ...

Hair/fur/grass shader?

Hi, I am very new to Octane, I didnt even run it till now because I wait for new GFX card. I just try to know as much as I can from this website and forum. As far as I know, there is no hair/fur/grass shader in Octane. Maybe it is exact word - I dont know the terminology, so it may be hair/fur/grass ...
