Re: what's next ? An image or animation competition ?

First of I want to say:
1. Whatever kind of challange you prefer, the best way to give to competition a bit of professional - use your own models and scenes not downloaded or bought, some people here trying to do the best job they can, they waste a lot of time and what? Some users prefer, to make it ...

Caustics

Hey there dudes!
I have question for you
Have someone tried to get some nice looking caustics from water, glass material on the other objcet surface?
I ask you cause, I heard the best way is to use strong light from hdri, is there any other way?
Cheers!

Re: Nvidia Fermi Octane Competition

havensole I have GF8600GT, optimize mesh yes, but I also done this before, my Uboat orginaly have about 1.2 mln polys. In Octane I put version with 200 000, I' m thinking about new GPU at the moment, because I care to finish this scene exactly in Octane, priority not for win the competition but to ...

Re: Nvidia Fermi Octane Competition

havensole I have already done this with me textures, I put smaller images on meshes. I think about some new, shots but I understand judgements prefer some bigger resolutions, so maybe I will make some simple model without complex scene.

Re: Nvidia Fermi Octane Competition

Phrostbyte I understand you dude, but the memory is the main problem in this comparision. For example these renders I've uploaded have no hdri enviroment map, on olders GFes loading some nice map and some nice model with some bigger geometry is impossible. In new version it is fine, I can also set ...

Re: Nvidia Fermi Octane Competition

Yup, sorry guys I want to apologize for my words, I've talked with Lechu, he stays. You have right he is right man on the right place.
n1k - generaly yes but do you think you can get, on the same way, the same render with eg. GF8800 GT and GTX295? Sorry man but no rocket technology in Octane with ...

Re: Nvidia Fermi Octane Competition

So what is the criterion? The most realistic render, most interesting render? Nuverian I'm not oposie to Lechu he's my friend. Some peoples made some complex scenes, wasted a lot of time for optimize them to export, and then Enrico said final job can be very simple, so thats mean you criterion is not ...

Re: Nvidia Fermi Octane Competition

Hey Radiance, I told this rather generaly. I do not relate my last post to me and my job.
You wrote, that anybody can still win.
I think you have right but It's not a peace of cake for people with 243 MB/512MB and 32/64 streaming CPUs on GPUs thats really not easy man, trust me.
Maybe I'll buy a ...
