First off, I forgot to say Awesome job on the alembic reader! BIG improvement!
found two small issues:
-Enabling the Environment render output almost doubles my render time. Since there is no calculations here, only the HDRI image, I guess something is wrong? (I have no fog or anything else than ...

Re: OctaneRender V4 XB3
Displacement seems to be broken?
If I try to add displacement to a shader I get an instant crash. Also happened with XB 2.1. Works in 3.07, but it breaks the subsurface calculation. (I am trying to dig into what causes that.)
Can you reproduce?
I'm on win10 with the latest drivers.
Thanks
Martin

Re: Alembic Issues
Hello
The easiest and fastest way is to read in your alembic frames back into houdini and then re-export a new single file alembic. (no resim, just in and out)
But if you don't want to do that, (which is pretty much the same process as the Realflow one,) you can write a script that updates the ...

Re: OctaneRender™ Standalone 3.08 TEST 4 [latest 3.xx]
Thank you for your quick response! I can in deed set the size, but we use the option in vray to override that and set it when we render. It would require a complete re-simulation everytime you wanted to change them in a shot.
It would be amazing to have "attribute nodes" in stand alone, as in ...

Re: OctaneRender™ Standalone 3.08 TEST 4 [latest 3.xx]
I'm doing a project where we are rendering lots of particles via alembic files in vray. I would like to test them in octane to compare, but I cant find a setting to override particle size? (like the hair thickness.) Did we use to have that at some point, or is it just something I made up in my mind ...

Re: Get transformation from alembic?
That sounds great Roeland, but I have no idea how to do that. How would I setup the time control? And can I pinpoint a specific object in the alembic file, or do I need to do like in this script, export a specific object with that motion?
Sorry for not knowing anything about lua, or programming in ...

Re: Get transformation from alembic?
This is actually one of the things I have missed the most in octane!! BUT it does not work with motionblur? Can that be solved? Also, the Z axis of my object got inverted, but I could work around that with a negative scale on a different place node.

Re: Phoenix fd 3.0 is out
How about supporting reading .aur files directly in octane stand alone? (phoenix volume format.) it should be accessable and "open" according to chaosgroup.
This is a possibility, but we want to ensure that we also have shader info, and I'm not sure at this point if .aur would include that info ...
