Re: OctaneRender 4 for Poser [TEST and STABLE]

For Poser 12 you can use the 2020.2 Enterprise or Studio versions from https://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=73536 . Earlier versions of Octane will not work with Poser 12. There is no Prime version of the Poser plugin.
Thanks
Paul

Re: OctaneRender 4 for Poser [TEST and STABLE]

@RGUS I think the Poser/DS plugins are available. What appears to be unavailable is a non-subscription Octane version that works with Ampere RTX cards, so unless we subscribe, we cannot get any more updates for the "regular" Octane 4. That's what I am trying to find out here. If that is so, then the ...

Re: OctaneRender 4 for Poser [TEST and STABLE]

Hi Paul,
I haven't used Octane since switching to Poser 12, so my memory is kind of fuzzy about how the licenses work. I have Octane 4 "regular", no subscription, version 4.05.0.97. My OTOY downloads section offers all kinds of versions I am likely not eligible for, like 2019 and 2020. Is 4.05 the ...

Re: OctaneRender 4 for Poser [TEST and STABLE]

I have been spending quite some time upgrading my Python scripts to Poser 12 as well. It's a pleasure to finally leave Python 2 behind.

Re: OctaneRender 4 for Poser [TEST and STABLE]

Poser 12 has switched to Python 3, so everything made for Poser 11 and older will not work. They will need a new version. People are asking in the forums about it, if Paul will make it work in Poser 12. I would like to know as well.

Re: OctaneRender 4 for Poser [TEST and STABLE]

It seems the plugin is looking for the name "Grouping" and hide it if it finds it. If you rename it, the grouping box will show in the plugin.
So rename it to "Grouping Room" will work, but "Room" will not work it seems.

Ohh now THAT explains it, then. I was adding suffixes to the grouping names ...

Re: OctaneRender 4 for Poser [TEST and STABLE]

I usually have multiple objects grouped together, but at least in theory, that shouldn't make a difference. What Poser version are you using? Mine is the Pro 11.1.1.35540 x64.

Much worse than just that - they show in Octane renders as white cubes. They do show up in Poser previews as transparent wireframe mode, but are automatically removed from renders. No such luck with the Octane plugin. They do show in renders.

Re: OctaneRender 4 for Poser [TEST and STABLE]

Usually the handles or chips have a unique material name.
If so, it is easy, set the opacity of that material to 0, copy then material to the clipboard, then right click and select "past xxx material to all materials called <materialname>

I wish it were that simple. The grouping gizmo material ...
