Correct Aces config settings? (Screenshots included)

Hi. This is my current ACES OCIO configuration based on a video I saw. It's my understanding that all of these settings are the only thing needed to get the ACES workflow working (I don't believe there's anything outside of these pics?): Octane Aces Setup.png

But when I have ACES enabled in my C4D ...

Re: Speed up baking texture?

Thanks Bepe, is my understanding correct that it's rebaking any time anything on the material changes, not just nodes that are connected through the baking texture? I.e. I adjust a octane gradient on my diffuse channel, but my baking texture is on the displacement and completely disconnected from ...

Speed up baking texture?

I do a lot of realism work that requires high-res baking textures, and a big part of the approach to finding realistic results is "tweak value -> re-render". With a heavy baking texture in my material, this takes FOREVERRRRR. It slows everything down so much, as it seems every change I make to the ...

Control over subdivisions (angle control, area control, etc)

It would be nice if we had more control over how Octane performs its subdivisions so that this problem with vertex displacement: https://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=81129&p=421718#p421718 -- can be solved. The general gist of the problem and solution is that meshes without perfect ...

Vertex map displacement support for materials

Further discussion about this here, and why it is needed: https://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=79783&p=421776#p421776

To sum it up, objects that require displacement on only particular parts of the object is not currently supported well - requires UV maps and image masks right now ...

Re: Displacement with Vertex texture in c4d

I figured out why C4D's subdivision surface isn't a solution here (something I had known but forgotten), it's because Octane uses the viewport subdivision value not the render subdivision value. So my original points still stand, you can't escape having viewport/scene performance issues when dealing ...

Re: UV mapping procedural displacement on high subdivision edges

I have, yeah. And many more documents trying to figure this out. Unfortunately nothing talks about it. In these documents all the meshes have evenly distributed polygons, which is rarely the case in reality, and generally never the case if you have bevelled edges. I'm happy to provide an example ...

Re: UV mapping procedural displacement on high subdivision edges

No one aware of solutions to this problem or the details of how the renderer deals with these scenarios so we can think of solutions? Surely I'm not the only person who is trying to get consistency with procedurally generated displacement texturing. Is this not a common problem?

UV mapping procedural displacement on high subdivision edges

Does anyone have any tips on the best UV mapping approach for getting even procedural noise displacement on objects that have inconsistent subdivisions across the mesh?

Here's an example of what I mean, in the form of a cube. My cube has a bevel, and when I apply the Octane tag and increase my ...

Ah, understood. No problem. It would be cool to see this feature in the future, I hope it is added eventually.
