it was Maya Plugin 3.03g Beta,
and Standalone 2.58e

I managed to get it to work -
Chris on Support got me to try a beta Octane - that still didn't work,
but when I tried the beta plugin - it all worked.

So it seems that the release version of both are not working together ?
So for the meantime I have reverted to the last Beta of both.

There are no errors on Octane startup .
Renderview and IPR work perfectly.

The strange thing is I haven't even installed this on any other machine !
I will try this, but as I have said its all working fine in Maya and it certainly doesn't exist anywhere else.
