Re: 3d connexion Will Not Rotate or tilt
The current device support doesn't rely on the 3Dconnexion driver but it reads the device directly using a lower level data interface. We probably have to update this in Octane itself to support the newer devices.

Re: wParallax products
As far as I can tell, this shader works the same in Octane versions 2022, 2023, and 2024.
Starting from https://github.com/julsVFX/osl/tree/main/jiWindowBox, take the jiWindowBox_LWOctane.osl version. This version works in Octane but it requires planes to be oriented along the XY plane in object ...

Re: Plastic looks like glass??
One property of acrylic is that it tends to scratch more easily than glass, so maybe it looks too “clean” in the render.

Re: 3d connexion Will Not Rotate or tilt
It is hard to say from here why the tilting axes don’t work. Do you have any drivers or utility software installed? Maybe it has settings to enable or disable certain movement axes for certain applications.spartan00j wrote:So will I get any help with this?

Re: OctaneRender® 2023.1 Beta 1 [current 2023.1]
The VDB file in the ORBX file has the wrong data in it, it is a fog volume instead of a signed distance field. (in technical terms, it has 0 density outside the object and positive density inside it).

Re: OSL Random Tile Texture
It is possible that the Cinema4D plug-in is not able to map the type of that input to a UI widget. This is a version with 2 float inputs for the tile size:SSmolak wrote:Thank you it looks that great script you presented here but why it looks different in Cinema 4D, without plank size ?

Re: OSL Random Tile Texture
Yeah this comes up sometimes, there are a few ways to achieve this. It depends on whether you have the tiles as separate images or as one texture atlas, and whether the tiles are separate objects or one mesh.
For the one mesh / separate image tiles case, one way is to load the sets of images into ...

Re: Irradiance White Shadow
Hi,
Can you confirm if the white areas become transparent if you enable the alpha channel?
In irradiance mode, areas where shadow rays reach backfacing polygons are made transparent. This avoids black edges where objects intersect the ground.
If this peculiar behaviour is a problem in your scene ...

Re: OctaneRender® 2022.1 XB 0
Hi, I tried using Photo tracing for an interior render of an apartment,
when doing the render in low resolution (1200x800) the image cleans up nicely with a few thousand samples,
but in a higher resolution like 4K, it doesn't seem to behave the same with the same number of samples, I usually get a ...
