Possible bug with scripted render & gpu failure?

Code: Select all

...
MAXSAMPLES=1000
...
octane.render.start{
  renderTargetNode=rt
 ,maxSamples=MAXSAMPLES
}

During the render, 1 of 5 GPUs failed, so the render "ends" at 998/1000 samples.

I had to stop the script to break out.

lua bug

Small bug when using a geometry group (maybe others, not sure):

-- find 'flashgroup', which is NT_GEO_GROUP
scene = octane.nodegraph.getRootGraph()
flashgroup = scene:findItemsByName('flashgroup')[1]

-- bug:
flashgroup:disconnectIx( N ) -- N appears to be Zero-indexed
flashgroup:connectToIx( N ...

Re: OctaneRender™ Standalone v1.14

The viewport tools...

AF picker
Color balance
Material select
Target select

Color balance does not have a shortcut key (or at least its tooltip does not describe it)

Thanks.

Re: Octane Render Standalone v1.13 bug

is it the white flash frames?

I've seen this before in a sequence of my own once.. and it was likely PMC.

1.0ish, it was months ago.

Re: OctaneRender™ Standalone v1.13

Are there any known issues with PMC at this time?

It seems like bumpmap scale is broken, or normals are not unit length, or some other similar bug.

Once I even saw something worse on a non-bumpmaped curved surface where the edges of every triangle were dark at the edges... sorry that I don't have ...

Re: Making sense of exposure...

It may be coincidence, but....

With the Day-Env power @ 100.0, it seems to me that everything works in a reasonable way.

For example - The Sunny-16 Rule "works" @ f/16, ISO 100, Exp=1.0 ....

...and the difference between interior & exterior (and lighting) all seems much more like I would expect ...

Re: Making sense of exposure...

Well, I've been experimenting some more.

I built my room piece by piece, roof last...

Trying to imagine what the space would look like (given the same exposure settings in a camera) when the roof was removed in the summer - and I decided that the Daylight Environment must not be calibrated to 1.0 ...

Re: OctaneRender™ Standalone v1.0 RC 3 — Download here

In RC2, I experienced a long delay (enough for windows to timeout waiting for messages to be handled) when switching between pmc and other kernels - seems to be fixed in rc3.

Making sense of exposure...

...meaning, can anyone?

There's no shutter speed, and I assume f-stop, ISO, and 'exposure' are all just accumulated into the same multiplier, or very similar.

I wonder about:

Why is the Linear/Off response-curve so much darker than any profile - I'd guess that any of those curves would create ...
