I have used Softimage since V1.
I have been a beta tester for almost every version since V5.
I have used Softimage in production on film VFX, TV and print work.

There is a large market of Softimage users who are VERY frustrated with mental ray.
I am one of them, and we complain about it all the time. Every time we hit the render button.

Sure it (mental ray) is a fast raytracer for reflections and (usually) for refractions, but it is very slow for indirect ...

I (literally) cannot wait for this.
I wish I could wait, but I start a project that would really benefit from Octane.

I really hope that it is released soon!

Any official updates on e status of this? We are interested in buying some licenses, and I am 1,000% tired of mental ray. It has screwed me way too many times, and it is so hard to get a photorealistic result. I am waiting for this with MUCH anticipation. Please give me some idea of the time frame ...
