Automated conversion of base diffuse textures from mantra
I have a pipeline that involves loading dozens if not hundreds of bits of geometry from several FBX files. Each piece of geometry has its own base diffuse texture as a material in the FBX that i've wrangled through the Houdini environment well enough to preserve the texture-geometry assignment in a ...

Re: Macos (Metal / Bigsur) Houdini 19 status?
Thanks for the reply. What's your time frame for a release-candidate for the new sdk? is there somewhere I could download unstable builds?

Macos (Metal / Bigsur) Houdini 19 status?
I'm running Houdini 19.0.498 and the most recent plugin available seems to crash when selecting any of the Octane menu options. The first attachement is from the released PR11 plugin and the last two are from the unreleased plugin linked in another darwin houdini 19 thread. my env file is ...

Particle flow advice
Having recently hit the cap on polygons for a particle mesh, I've started instancing the particles themselves using pflow spheres. This looks ok but my render times with loading have gone from 2:40 a frame to 12:00 a frame. Are there any tricks to speed up this process? This is an i7 quad core, 32gb ...

Re: Scene fails to render but is below memory usage?
Looks like about 15 million (~ 7m and ~7.6m) for that frame.
If that's the case, that's a pretty big limitation given current hardware is up to 12 gb . . .
These are meshed particles, is there a way to instance one of the particle groups to get it rendered in 3ds max?

Scene fails to render but is below memory usage?
I have an scene that has suddenly started failing at frame 303; it seems to fail from 303 ~480 but other frames are ok. I'm trying to figure out why because it looks like it should be well within the capacity of my 6gb Titan Black

~200 of 3000 frames fail to render?
I'm using 2.04 and after several thousand frames of rendering, 200 or so don't seem to render. The octane render viewport just says "WARNING RENDER IS FAILED."
The scene size is ~2.3gb which is well below the limit of my 6gb titan and there is effectively no difference between the last thousand ...

Re: Max 2016 and Realflow Support
I'm able to render realflow using the most recent max plugin using the following tedious max script i picked up. I had to advance the slider manually each frame to trigger the RFloader geometry update.
