A side by side comparison. Same mesh, mat, daylight settings, camera response, camera settings, and imager settings. Max's gamma correction is off. Again, thank you for your time.

Thank you, but I performed that procedure as well as reactivating my license prior to opening this thread.
Would you mind posting a screenshot like mine with the same setup and may for comparison (1st wood mat in live DB).

There is no environment map right now, just octane sun, octane camera, and sphere with liveDB mat. Everything else is as it was installed.
Your sphere looks overexposed. Try to reduce exposure.

Disable Max gamma correction.

Same deal, negligible improvement. I'm haven't a clue what this could be from.
To use octane camera image settings you have to click to camera viewport (perspective), otherwise octane uses settings from render panel.

look imager in "camera settings"
Playing with the gamma there doesn't fix things. Tried both the modify panel and render setup locations.
if you have a camera in the scene, setings in "render setup" does not work, they work in the camera setup.
