By the way, all the ship animation in this test was done with the OCR script, then it was composited and some VFX added with BlackMagic Fusion:

Wow, thats fascinating that the materials in Octane are able to reproduce the same physical effect you'd expect in real-world to this degree. Makes me wonder about possibly bouncing light off multiple mirrors to create an effect like something out of a lost temple in indiana jones or something ...

Did a test of animation using the "OCR" plugin and the composited it together using BlackMagic;s Fusion VFX application.

If I understand your three planes correctly, maybe a setup like this might work for you:
Separate the lighting from the subject. then add some transforming handles to the lighting so you can adjust them to your liking.
I don't know if building a script would be any easier then this.
