Re: OctaneRender™ Standalone v1.17 - updated [current]
Would a new option to toggle between the two be possible?
Martin.
Not really. Now we have to fix the materials in the LiveDB, but eventually this will be done. If the user can toggle on the old behaviour all the fixed materials would be broken.
Thanks for the reply, abstrax.
In that case ...

Re: OctaneRender™ Standalone v1.17 - updated [current]
Why are bump maps inverted ? If it is a bump and not a dent then it should stick out of the surface. Currently what is white in the image dents the surface inwards.

Re: "Rendering Failed. Reset Card the card..."
I did do - and it asks for a mobile phone number to start a 5 day subscription for £1.50, which you then have to try and cancel.gazukull wrote:You just click the regular down load button. You only pay if you don't want to wait 45 seconds. That's how most free file hosting works.

I uploaded the file above. Scene is v4 with hair prop sitting on a wall. Nothing else.
My card has 768 MB of ram. Maybe the material settings coming across are what are causing issues?
Thanks much!

Preview Ball Geometry.
Greetings all.
Here's a picture of the Preview Ball with what looks like some rough geometry.
Shouldn't this be a perfect reference piece if it's to be used seriously?
There are errors in other areas and all can be seen clearly with the options in the Deep Channel Kernel.

Re: Triangles showing up on surface between two faces
Look at the MoI scale setting in the third picture of the fifth post of this topic - perhaps that's the cause?
I think the default setting is 1 rather than 5. My .obj file was made with the default value.

Re: Triangles showing up on surface between two faces
I'm not experienced enough with Octane yet, so here's the .obj file for you to check - I made it in MoI3d from the STEP file the O/P uploaded here. The Weld vertices along edges option in MoI3d was not ticked for export.
