Re: ORBX proxy preview mesh inside 3ds Max
We' ve built a complete ORBX scene (not proxy) importer in the UE4 plug-in. It converts everything in an ORBX to to UE4 native scene, mesh, texture and materials/shaders. This is a feature we want in all plug-ins, including Max, but it takes time as each developer needs to do this differently. We ...

ORBX proxy preview mesh inside 3ds Max
Hello,
Ability to export to an universal format and read it across any supported DCC is great, but for now it is useless because we can't see orbx geometry inside 3ds max.
It means we cant prepare assets in other DCC (Maya, blender, C4D) and combine it into 3Ds Max for rendering.
Actually this ...

Re: OctaneRender® for 3ds max® v3.06 TEST 4 - 4.32
Hello there.
I can't render a VDB file(attached). Also I've noticed some glitches in the octane render viewport when I create a volume object.
And it's a bit confising for me. If I have a sequence of VDBs starting from 75 frame(and each frame is a separate VDB file), which frame should I set in the ...

Re: Octane doesn't load proxy materials.
Hi, thank you for reply.
As I understand there are two ways to work with proxy files in 3ds max.
1)From 3ds max I select the mesh that I want to be a proxy, right click on the viewport>export to Octane proxy> set the proxy file patch and enable "Replace original"
2)Do the same things like in 1 ...

Re: Octane doesn't load proxy materials.
Hm, If from mat editor I assign material to proxy file it renders ok.
So there is another question: does octane store material and texture information in proxy file? I mean can I. for example, use exported from max proxies in maya?

Re: Linear Workflow with Octane in 3dsMax
Hi,
To work in linear workflow I do fiew steps:
1 - Disable any gamma corretion in 3ds max options
2 - In octane render settings, in the imager tab choose linear response.
That's it! Hope it helps
Also you can unceck overall tonemaping feature and correct gamma in post, but I prefer to use gamma 2 ...
