Re: Displacement Maps Question

Hi,
I'm also not an expert, but there is this "offset" value. If you set it to minus half of "height", you should get exactly the effect you want.

Best regards,
Michael

Re: OctaneRender® for Poser (Windows) 2.01 [TEST]

Hi,
I got another scene to work. The following procedure did it in that case:
1) Delete the Daylight from the scene
2) Save the scene
3) Exit Poser
4) Start Poser, load the scene
5) Open Octane, loading the scene without a Daylight
6) Close the Octane windows
7) Recreate a new Daylight
8) Open the ...

Re: OctaneRender® for Poser (Windows) 2.01 [TEST]

Hi,
this indeed seems to occur for existing scenes. In my prior experiment I admit I did not start from scratch but rather deleted everything except the ground and light.
In some other existing scene, I managed to fix this issue by deleting the Daylight, synchronizing to Octane, and the recreating a ...

Re: Octane 2 Plugin (conversion) wish

Hi Paul,
thanks for the fast response. Yes, this only occurs for scenes saves with 1.0... 1.2 and existing Octane materials.
All new scenes are transferred correctly.

In some existing scenes I have done a "Save as Poser material" for the Octane material changes. For those, the proposed ...

Re: OctaneRender® for Poser (Windows) 2.01 [TEST]

Hi,
I have a very strange problem with Sunlight.

I first noticed this with last week's 2.0.9.17, and now created a simple test scene to verify, using 2.01.18.
The "Daylight" direction from Poser is no longer seen in Octane.

The test scene contains the ground, 1 Poser primitive cylinder and 3 boxes ...

Octane 2 Plugin (conversion) wish

Hi,
as Octane 2 introduces the new texture transformation which has no directly corresponding feature in Octane 1.x, all transformed scenes currently show an identity transformation.
There was however an u/v texture scaling in Octane 1.x. It would be great if the plugin could automatically convert ...

Re: OctaneRender® for Poser (Windows) - build 1.20.2 [TEST]

Hi,
thank you very much! I appreciate these new features! Especially also the LDR greyscale texture saving will be very convenient, this was the limiting factor for some conversions.

Best regards,
Michael

Feature idea - Poser parameters

Hi,
I have an idea of a useful new feature:
Similar to Bagginsbill's parmatic, a new node could be implemented, similar to "floattexture", but rather than a value, it takes 2 parameters: a reference to a mesh and a string.
The node would perform a lookup to the meshes origin in Poser (prop or figure ...

Re: SSS scale for scattering medium

Hello,
OK, I found some settings I'm happy with. I finally used transmission EC maps and also specular maps.
(To be precise, for transmission, I used a mix between red and the EC map, because the EC map alone was too pale.)
I increased the scattering a lot, compared to the absorption (10:1).

The ...

Re: SSS scale for scattering medium

Hello,
as a first conclusion from this, I agree with Paul concerning absorption, that it should be non-zero.
With absorption at 0, most of the light will be transmitted through the body, with little influence of its thickness, and therefore a scattering map is essential.
Attached is the image I ...
