For starters I would recommend removing the light portal from the windows. Since the windows are floor to ceiling, a portal will do nothing but increase render time. There is more than enough space for light to enter the room and is extremely unnecessary in your case.
Which rendering kernel are ...

Re: Exterior Architectural Renderings - Settings Recommendat
In all honesty the number of samples you need depends on your scene and how many areas inside it need to be sampled. You will need to do some tests to determine this number because it's all dependent on your scene. I honestly found that rendering a near-clean image and putting a denoiser on your ...

Re: Interior scene long render times.
Imagine to render this scene with vray and bruteforce set to 24 - 3
also set dmc sample set to 1 - 16
also noise threshold set to 0.005
your system will render for 8 hours, more or less.
I don't see any noise in your render, it's ok.
Btw, every photographer that shoots interiors always use a lot ...

Re: Interior scene long render times.
Here is the updated image rendered via PMC with 10000 samples with 28 min rendertime at 1024x663. I replaced all the ceiling lights with blackbody emitters and actually have a cleaner result in quality and noise. Huge improvement, but still not amazing time-wise. I feel this is somewhat workable now ...

Re: Interior scene long render times.
Yes, very likely you need less samples for pmc. Light samples don't make a lot of sense in your case.
I changed the kernel to PMC and the sampling rate to 6000 just to test it. It seems as if I'm starting to see a huge improvement already. I just have to wait to see how long it takes me to get ...

Re: Interior scene long render times.
Hi Karba. But noise should go away faster.
Does this mean I'd be able to lower down the samples when using PMC to achieve a noiseless image? Also I need to ask....does my light samples have anything to do with it? I have always kept them at a default of 1.0.

Re: Interior scene long render times.
check out my thread one month ago: http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=27515
i had the same problem; the only thing that did the trick was using PMC.
hope it works for you, too!
Wow you had it way worse than I did. 2.5 hrs and still that much grain? OUCH! I'm happy you got it ...

Re: Interior scene long render times.
there are many tricks to avoid noise.
I do interior renders every day with Octane for Max:
01 tiny geometry/light emitters generate too much noise. Try to enlarge them or balance them increasing samples.
02 Sky portals are useless, you can't power them. Use planar lights balancing warm and cold ...

Gentleman thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. I will try to make the recommended revisions to the scene. All your responses are greatly appreciated.

Re: Interior scene long render times.
Try to set wall color to 0.7 0.7 0.7 instead of 1.0 1.0 1.0
Tried this and still the same issue. I isolated the walls, ceiling and floor alone and rendered just to test. Render time dropped down to 15 Minutes at 16000 samples but that still seems high for a room with nothing in it. I'd be more ...
