I think Refractive is doing the right thing by keeping quiet until it's ready. enough missed deadlines already. at least we get to earn a few more days interest on our money (or save some interest on a credit card).

+1 for face's idea.

if that's not possible, at least engineer Octane so that the UI can be launched once and re-used for each frame so as long as user doesn't close Octane, there's no need to re-activate.
(having said that, if that icon next to "act" is what I think it is, Octane checks activation ...
