Hey guys!

got a problem, maybe someone here knows the solution:

i start a render and everything renders as usual, but if i use the region tool during render and define a region where it should focus on the render it resets all samples in the selected region and starts from 1....
i think this is ...

As said the shadows in many hdri-files are very soft and gentle. The main reason for this is the difference between overall illumination and the maximum brightness of the sun. in many cases the difference is way too low.
this only relates to real 32-bit HDRi Files. Often simple 8bit 360-degree ...

just turn the ior to 8 and mask the reflective color with a noise - also the masking of the glossiness channel should give a nice result (maybe overall color of 65%black and 98%in the speckles)

Impressive! I like the details very much - only the corrugation of the carpet is quite seen to much in cgi-images :) - just a little would be enough. but the material itself of the carpet is amazing, how is it done?

Hey!

i wonder if it would be possible to implement an optional Noise-Threshold linked with the max-sample value to stop the render like e.g. the antialiasing-Engine of Vray?
maybe the software could focus on the noise areas of the image while the areas which meets the threshold are not sampled ...
