Re: Mesh Light Issue
@radiance: Thank you for your explination of the problem. I am going to work around it for the current project but cannot wait to use the updates in the next Octane Release.

Re: GTX 590
WOW 8-)
That is amazing, these cards are coming out so quickly I cannot keep up.
I can imagine though that this card is going to come with one huge price, I am still going to think about getting 2x GTX570 with 1.28GB on each card.
I priced it on newegg for $354, so for both it will be $708. Now ...

Re: Mesh Light Issue
@abstrax: Yes I am using Direct Lighting. The only lighting in this scene is the "fake" wall lights(the wall material is a Diffuse with the material of the wall and light then in the texture emission tab I placed an image of the light, just black and white, so where the white is shines the light ...

Re: Mesh Light Issue
Hi all,
@abstrax: I had a look at the render again and it does look like there is no ceiling. But there is in the model, I think the combination of a lame material(grey Diffuse) and basic lighting, there is an illusion on no ceiling.
@Magog: I did come across that tutorial, even though I dont use ...

Re: problem with mesh ligths
Hi pimpuppy,
I have been doing so many tests these past couple of days to try find a solution.
Your problem seems to be a bit different to mine but I may have a few solutions for you.
1. Check you normals for the objects emitting the light.
2. Are the objects emitting the light one object or ...

Re: Mesh Light Issue
Faking IES lighting test.
I would like your views on the way I am faking IES lighting.
It is a very quick test scene, no exterior lighting just texture lighting. I have to find a way to show ies lighting within my scene as it is very important to show the client and I dont think Refractive Software ...

Re: Mesh Light Issue
Just a quick update.
So below is the render that I left on after work on Friday.
Render time is 8 hours 54min
Max Depth is 32
Max Samples is 64000
Lighting_pathtracing_8hours.jpg
Rendertime is unrealistic for large size renders but hopefully I can find the time to do it as the quality is a lot ...

Re: Mesh Light Issue
Firstly thank you all for you comments.
@GeoPappas: I was actually worried that it was because of to little faces, the light sources are planes with one face. I did do a test with more polygons on the face but still had the issue.

Re: Mesh Light Issue
@Kubo: Yes totally understand, direct lighting is basic but in terms of Time vs Quality, time wins this round. So I am having to have a lower realistic quality but will able to finish on time. I also downloaded the latest version of Octane(I was using 2.4 and now got version 2.44).
Well I have been ...

Re: Mesh Light Issue
@ Hubo: Thank you for you reply, I searched the forums again and saw you have answered other people with similar issues.
But unfortunaly the normalize did not work, have a look at the renders below.
Has anybody come across this issue or is there anyway around it.
Could anyone from Refractive ...
