I am wondering if it is possible to use perspective correction in combination with camera motion blur? Using 4.01.1R2 at the moment.
When I check "disable camera M.blur" in the Camera Motion Blur Setting perspective correction works. I´ll get moving object motion blur but no camera ...

The c4doctanelog.txt in the plugins directory is empty after the crash, so no infos there.

I know you had issues with the R15 of the latest 2018.1 builds. I read through all the latest release posts and you mentioned to have found the problem and fixed it about 2 weeks ago.
Just downloades 2018.1.1 and gave it a try with C4D R15 on Win 7.1 with NVIDIA 417.35 and it still ...

64 GB RAM
gtx 1070
quadro P4000

WIN7 Profesional, Cinema4D r15 prime, octane render 4
Nvidia drivers 416.94

R15 has not support for some keywords in resource files. Check first page. There's a package for R15 compatible "res" files.

Followed the instructions for upgrading, but the upgrade page is suggesting I "Deactivate" my version 3 before proceeding.

Is this necessary? It wasn't mentioned in the first post.

Got the same problem, allready in previous 3.08.5 versions.
You have to open the OctaneCameraexp.res in the Cinema4DR15 ...
