Scatter node input to Vectron

Hi everyone,

I was experimenting a bit with Vectron, and I somehow managed to put together a parametric displaced brick object thingy, thanks to bits of code found here on the forums.

Problem is, when I try to plug it to a scatter node¨(4000 something instances), Octane crashes.

Nice list ! Since you ask there are three other topics for which I'd find a tutorial would be useful :

- The baking process, both for generating lightmaps and for baking them onto low poly objects
- UDIM workflow
- Instance IDs and instance range textures

Hi Paride,

I use 3ds Max 2018 Build 20.0.0.966. Here's the simple scene I uploaded to .orbx.
I have Octane for 3ds 3.06.4 - 4.41 Demo (I don't have a licence yet since I'm still learning 3ds), but I didn't use it to get the .orbx ; I exported to .abc using 3ds's export options, then imported to ...

Hi again guys,

Here's a simple .orbx scene where the issue occurs. Its a simple 1x1 meter plane with the hair modifier transformed to splines then exported to .abc.

I'll try to revert back to 3.07 for this project (a simple rug :) ) in the meantime.

Thanks Beppe, this is weird indeed.

About Default hair thickness, no matter what value I enter (I tried 1, 0.1, 0.01 etc.) in the settings, it remains the same in the viewport.

A potential lead to understanding what's going on : after searching the forums a bit more, I downloaded the .abc file you ...

Exporting Alembic hair&fur to standalone

Hi everyone,

I'm having troubles exporting hair&fur from 3ds Max 2018 to Octane 3.08 Standalone.

I converted the hair to splines and then exported to .ABC Ogawa but then when I import the file in Octane I get these strange shapes on each sides of the strains.

Moreover, I have no control on hair ...

Would it be possible to have this scripted graph working with an image texture input instead of a string value ?

That way one could, for instance, link an image node with UV transform information directly to the script. I tried to do it but I don't know the first thing about LUA. I just ...

In v3 to get this sort of effect you'd create a random volume - this will give you more control over the effect.

Hi, I just stumbled upon this thread while researching exactly that.
Is it possible in v3.03 to use an image or a generator for medium nodes?
I've been trying both with scattering and absorption but i've had no luck so far.
