Ghostbungle Industries studio bump.

Here is an animation I just completed for our production company, Ghostbungle Industries.

This was modeled in Blender (although the original 2d text was created in Photoshop) and rendered in Octane 1.0 beta 2.52 on an Amazon EC2 instance running dual Tesla M2050's. It took about 7-9 minutes per ...

Re: Multi OBJ

It would be super useful to be able to combine multiple OBJ files inside of octane. An example would be in animation. It is a waste of space and time to have to export the location that the character is animated within for every single frame when it's only the character that is moving. If you could ...

"No sir, you are the caretaker. You've always been the caretaker. I ought to know, I've always been here."

I love it. Well done.

Re: Tree

The drastic change in depth of field contributes pretty significantly to the miniature look as well. It's not a bad look, if that's what you're intending. If not, pull back on the aperture setting. With standard lenses, you really only see this level of focus change across such short distances when ...

Re: Tree

I like the look of this. It's not 100% realistic, but it has a nice stylized look. How much RAM does the scene use?

And 14 hours does seem excessive for only 2096 samples.

Re: WakYak - Architectural visualization animation

Lutze - I agree about the camera shake, in a lot of ways this was an experiment in how far I could push "imperfections" i.e. camera shake, color toning, bloom and so on. Probably took it a bit too far, but I think it works well in the more chaotic scenes.

I think the camera shake looks a ...

Re: WakYak - Architectural visualization animation

I love it. This is my new favorite video. The music fits perfectly, and the cubes work fantastically. Well done. Was this rendered all at once using the Blender export script? Also, I'm curious what technique you used to simulate the handheld camera work.

Re: update: shortfilm, rendered in octane.

I'm pretty sure you can't use Amazon since they would need to have Octane to render it

You can run Octane on Amazon EC2. It's a bit tricky to get set up, since Octane has no headless mode, but I have done it. You need to be comfortable with Linux, VNC, X, SSH, and something like DrQueue if you ...

Re: Auto-Kill Octane on Failure?

I've encountered a few hangs like this in Linux, especially when the app closes after rendering a frame. I am working on an upcoming animation production, and I can't afford to have nodes in the render farm hang idly while Octane is hung. So, I am working on a Linux solution that would monitor the ...
