Re: Octane Sketchup Exporter - 1025-03

Hey, guys.

Any plans for a fully integrated version, similar to the 3dsMAX one? :)

Re: Infinite mirror problem

@face: Aperture is small... That's why the palm trees in the reflections are in focus.

@steveps3: Do you know if this is a limitation of the beta?

Infinite mirror problem

In this test with a mirror material from the online repository, reflections seem to stop somewhere around 20 bounces ans then go to a black blur... I made sure to set bounces to the maximum in the Pathtracing engine.

Any suggestions on how to achieve infinite mirror reflections? This is important ...

Re: How to simulate the double slit interference experiment?

No need to simuate quantum mechanics, according to this paper. I don't understand all of it, but I do understand that they seem optimistic this can be implemented in existing raytracing solutions.

Smart IBL

New user here.

I just noticed using a blurry HDR instead of sun/sky greatly reduces fireflies. Then I remembered about "Smart IBL", a nice little soft that can produce three versions from the same HDR: One for background, one for reflections and one for illumination:

Re: Projector - any ideas?

Mmm... yes, I've done it with Twilight's unbiased engine. I believe Thea Render can do it, too.

I'm new to Octane -just bought a license- and I'm wondering why it should be so difficult to do. I guess the current version of Octane doesn't have spotlights, which in other software can load an image ...

Re: "Maximum number of 32bpp RGBA Textures Reached"

Yes, LightUp is OpenGL-based. Those 282 textures are no problem for it. This is the house in question:

So Octane can't handle this right now without having to export each room as a separate file...

"Maximum number of 32bpp RGBA Textures Reached"

Yup, I received this message after loading an obj with a model of a house complete with furniture and stuff. This model runs with no problems in SketchUp and even ran with no problems in LightUp, which is also GPU-based and thus loads all textures in the GPU RAM.

This error message kept popping up ...

Re: living room... now in octane

Awesome work.
If I understand correctly, the first and the third images are V-Ray, and the second and last are Octane, right?

What about the render times?
