Re: Octane no longer Blender friendly?

Patience is a virtue... I do agree with that, generally speaking.
But we need to distinguish 2 cases here : the patience of the Hobbyists and the patience of the professionnals.

For Hobbyists, I guess it's not a big deal. It's about fun, experiments and doing art or personal projects, you can do it ...

Re: Octane no longer Blender friendly?

Personnaly I have bought Octane 2 standalone because i'm a c4d user too, but I'm done using Octane with Blender, for now.

It's way too risky to use it professionnaly because there's no official exporter, and no simple/secure workflow.
i'm quite mad at Otoy for not involving ressources on Blender ...

Re: How to get the alpha right when using glass ?

You're suggesting to use a realistic glass and a fake falloff glass and mix them inside of a mix material with falloff as the amount ?

I think it won't work, because the falloff map will tone down the alpha were the refractions are supposed to happen the most.
In the end there'll be none or little ...

Re: How to get the alpha right when using glass ?

yes abstrax, of course I know that you can't render the refractivity of something that isn't there in the 3d scene ! My letters are just here for testing sake. i don't ask for that.
I want to be able to catch an output in wich the object refracts itself, possibly other objects behind, and the ...

OK I've been playing around and came up with the result above, which combines transparency and a mix of fake and real refractions.

Here are the steps I followed.

1/ render a RGBA picture with the material "glass fake falloff", as advised ...

Re: How to get the alpha right when using glass ?

Thanks for your response, I guess I would know how to fake the effect and I don't really need this for this particular project, since I'll be integrating this on a light background, I was just being curious on how to do this.

I guess you can't do much about it Aoktar, as a plugin developper, but i ...

Re: Isometry

If Parallel projection can suit your need, i suggest you try it, it works in Octane.

EDIT :

And also have you tried the 'orthographic' option in an Octane camera node ?

How to get the alpha right when using glass ?

hello,

I have a little problem that I wanted to discuss.

This is my render, in png, and that's ok for a light background.

Re: Fabric Texture

Hello

Just use a mix material, in wich you can have 2 materials : the wet and the dry.

1/ in the mat editor, go to create > shader > c4dOctane > mixmaterial

2/ Create you dry mat, then your wet one, then add them to the mixmaterial slots.

3/ finally for the mixing amount, you can use either a ...
