Re: AMD GPU support!!

Support macOS AMD, if for the only reason that the people who will use Octane on this platform are high fliers and evangelists.

There are 4x more Android users than iOS users, but iOS users spend 5x on software purchases than Android users do. The math is a lot more dramatic with PC users.

Re: OctaneRender™ Standalone 3.00 alpha 9 [latest 3.xx]

Everything worked great. I had an actual hard deadline for a VFX shot with a volume in it, and Octane really saved the day. I'll share some details about the various workarounds I had to do to render my relatively simple VFX scene.

Re: New NVidia Drivers Out... any Effect on Octane?

New drivers usually have only a marginal effect on Octane, since we don't use most of the driver features and the driver overhead is fairly small. (We are actively trying to minimize driver calls)

Re: OctaneRender® for Maya® v1.02b beta [CURRENT]

I've also been seeing a lot of "// Error: line 0: Image conversion (to IFF) failed" messages. I think it's from a LiveDB material I'm using, but I can't find which one.

Re: OctaneRender® for Maya® v1.02b beta [CURRENT]

-1. Scatter works great. What about movable particles? Particle instancer geometry that responds to the timeline. Maybe background translation, where you translate frame t +1 while rendering frame t ?

0. Maybe provide a way to interrupt during translation? I.e., hitting escape while the render view ...

Also, thanks so much for a Kepler build.

My firm is trying to convince Autodesk to co-sponsor a museum exhibit in LA with us. This will be most helpful for our pitch...

Re: OctaneRender® for Maya® beta 3.03 [CURRENT] TEST

There is a small bug with the color slider.
Lets say you apply a RBG spectrum node to a glossy / specular input. Then you assign a red color for example. If you pull the color slider to the left it gets black as expected but if you pull it back to the middle the color is gray and not red like it ...

Re: Octane error help

SOLUTION TO "Unable to determine network connection type - please contact Refractive Software Support."

You can install OpenVPN instead, from
http://openvpn.net/index.php/open-source/downloads.html
which will install a virtual ethernet adapter that will work with Octane. Use the appropriate x64 ...
