I would use emitter materials

NVidia makes the chipsets that go into cards, they don't actually sell cards themselves.

Nice one. Isn't it tedious modeling all the little electronics parts? Is there some sort of special way of doing that? Just curious.

What's tonemapper?

I know, at least for blender, that it must rotate the mesh 90 degrees before exporting as an obj. Blender has an option for this during export, maybe 3ds max has some similar setting?

What will switching it to pathtracing do?

Are you lighting it with an emitter? If so, try a blackbody emission. You can change the color temperature to make it more reddish and less blue.
