Hi, i try with two clean install of windows 7 OctaneRender® for 3ds max® 2.26.1 - 2.23, but i can find a way to render properly this layer, changing the z_death max value i cant see any color change according the distance, i have severals months without using octane and maybe something change on ...

there's no difference for render speed, but it effects upload time.. if You work with very heavy scenes the lower amount of lanes goes to GPU, more You have to wait for the scene to start rendering =)

i think its not dificult make a materials or object opcion for skip AO casting, for people that use ambient occlusion kernel will be amazing.

try to move all to point 0.0.0. x.y.z , viewport clipping work but its not the problem, point 0.0.0 its the problem
