Hi all
I built a scene with thin fog in a valley and deep hanging clouds. I used the camera tag/post/fog for the fog and an imported Open VDB cloud from Embergen. The fog looks nice. The cloud too. Only together it looks crap in that the cloud suddenly gets almost 100% opac in the colour the post ...

Material Problem - Bump crazy high
Hi all
I am new to octane but experienced in other engines (cycles, mawell, vray). When I setup universal materials with bump I need to dial the bump WAY! down get reasonable results (either via imageTexture/Power or using Octane gradient).
So I imagined loading a material from online db and ...

Export Standard Path and Filename
Hello there,
when no export path and project name is beeing entered in the export dialogue there won´t be a project written at all. Is that correct behaviour?
I thought I had gotten always an octane project and obj file in the past with the same path and filename as my c4d project.
Cheers,
Rogurt

Re: pic not clearing...
@Draydin_r could you clarify that a bit more? What do you mean by "scaling down"? Reducing Power or downscaling the emitter polygonal object? What is meant by sharpening? Manual tweaking of IES data tables? And what source for IES do you use? I heared of quite big differences in IES data regarding ...

Re: pic not clearing...
For completeness rendered again with direct lighting kernel. Result surprises me. While there´s less noise in indirect lit/shadow areas there are lots of fireflies in the render. Also I thought taht the overall appearance would differ from the two pictures due to completely different kernels. But it ...

Re: pic not clearing...
Edit: Pathtracing was the kernel here.
Thought Pathtracing would be a lot faster. But as it seems after 8.40min the picture is not as consistent as PMC version (compared to test #6). In some areas less noise (shadows on floor) but the fireflies give me some extra time in Photoshop. I already had ...

Re: pic not clearing...
thanks for the advice. it really shows less noise when calculating for the same time with 3 times resolution than downsampling to original size (PSD standard filter). In addition the picture is remarkably sharper with more details where small dark features stand in front of a very bright background ...

Re: pic not clearing...
thank you guys for your advice. I made some testing and maybe you´re interested in the results.
I tried to tweak the kernel settings as to give indirect lighting more processing time and to have more paths evaluated than going too deep into single paths. Next I tried to add portal and further tweak ...
