With only 96 CUDA cores rendering will probably be quite slow, I would definitely recommend a faster card.

Not sure that this is a 2.46 thing or not, but the 'Blender' preset in the Viewport Control Mappings section of the Preferences still does not work. You have to leave it set at the Octane preset and manually change all the individual settings.

Well, this is a blast from the past. I had completely forgotten about this little model I did. It actually wasn't the first pocket knife I have ever owned, just the first one I ever modeled a number of years ago with Blender. Thanks for looking!
