Re: New collaborative OctaneRender(R) plugin program available
Studio and Carrara both have a plugin system, but Bryce and Hexagon do not at this time. There might be some work on Hexagon 3 going on, but Daz3D have said in the past that changing Hexagon's architecture would take a lot of work to implement a plugin system, though there was a lot of community ...

Re: Renderman or Collada support yet?
Thanks, Tugpsx, looking forward to using this script.
I've been reading about a Camera Transform material in the Octane manual, have you had much luck getting that to work with something from Daz Studio? I've tried a few times, though my test scenes of late had other problems with them such as ...

Re: Renderman or Collada support yet?
Thanks for pointing that out to me, I remember those being posted somewhere but hadn't found it again. Will have to do some more tests, but I'm still re-exporting more often than I would like trying to get things to work. While my limited ram and the 40 texture limit in Cuda don't help me much, my ...

Re: Renderman or Collada support yet?
For example, transmaps aren't collected, and so I have to go assign those myself.
With the last version (2.52) the transparency maps are automatically transferred and correctly assigned.
Yes, Octane does ask for them now, but I was referring to the Daz OBJ exporter which isn't collecting them ...

Re: Renderman or Collada support yet?
That's good to hear. Part of my problems were figuring out the right export settings in both Daz and Octane, though I think I have it figured out now. However, there are a few things I think the Daz obj exporter is responsible for that I find a little annoying. For example, transmaps aren't ...

Re: Renderman or Collada support yet?
All my octane renders are from Daz Studio or Carrara.
I have a custom script that exports the scene in single click and working on making it automatically launch Octane. I had a bit of problem with the camera, but based on a recently posted script for another exporter may have a working solution ...

Re: Texture atlas for Daz studio (combining texture maps)
The texture limit is your graphics card and if all that plugin does is combine all of your textures into a single file then I don't think it will help. However, the key part is that you have resolution control over the resulting all-in-one file and so if there are any savings to be made it would be ...

Re: Please
Octane doesn't really have the tools for scene compositing (arranging multiple objects). Would be great if it did but for now we'll just have to use plugins with software that can. Two of the currently supported 3D packages are free: Blender and SketchUp.

Re: Octane Live Platform Testing Release (pre-23)
The unfortunate thing is the viewport remained all black no matter what and it was saying and doing apparently 33msps which is crazy (broken?).
I then paused the render and tried a Live DB material. The ball came up ok with the correct mat but the view became steadily darker and darker with ...
