just read about SLI, seems like i can switch these on and off on the NVIDIA system panel, so that is as easily done as changing screen resolution for instance. no need to go into bios or so. right?

Re: advice needed on graphic card(s)
i join in here with my question:
if i use 2 cards, say my GTX460 and say a GT220 (little power usage) for display and internet surfing while rendering, how does the constellation work?
do i have to branch the monitor with the GT220?
will the GTX460 only work for Octane or also for all other uses ...

thank you very much, face!face wrote: Thats correct, don´t mix cards from different manufacturer.
Maybe a GT210-220 would be good for the job.
GT210 ~31Watt
GT220 ~58Watt

Edit:
I have purchased a G210, because it´s a 1slot card...
that helps.

Re: OctaneRender® pre-Beta 2.42 (win/mac) [CURRENT]
hi friends, can you please recommend me a second video card -- for surfing (not much more) at ease while rendering with my Gainward GTX460 2 GB. :)
i have an old Radeon/AMD card, but did not try yet, as i read in the forum it does not work together well in one PC with Nvidia.

thank you very much matej, ttaberna and face!matej wrote:@Irene,
Your scale is off, probably too big. Use exporters & check scale factor on export

this helps me a lot!

thank you, face!face wrote: Thats right, you can run Octane with cuda3.0 and cuda3.2 because each version uses his own version which is included in the zipfile.
Octane 2.2 work as well with it...

Re: OctaneRender® pre-Beta 2.42 (win) [CURRENT]
Do you mean this?
In some occasions, have not found out yet, which ones, darkened polygons show on object, no matter whether the material is smoothed or not.
it is still there in 2.42.
Am sure exactly but my guess is the problem is due to the rendering algorithm.

Sorry if I mislead you guys
The dll is already with octane exe inside the zip. check it!
You don't have to actually copy it, I wanted to say that it must go there, and actually is there.
So you can download both zips from first page in this post, unzip them in different folders and u are ready to ...

Re: OctaneRender® pre-Beta 2.42 (win) [CURRENT]
BTW you don't have to install no cuda toolkits. onli place the corresponding dll with your octane exe file, with that I mean that you can try both octane flavours 3.0 an 3.2 ans see if you notice any speed increase.
Cheers
Edit agai:
Ther is speed increase!
Here some prints
thank you very much ...
